Erma Leona Mead Schulz

1900–1975

Also recorded as Erma Mead, Irma Mead, Erma Schulz.

Biography

Erma Leona Mead is the daughter who connects the Mead and Schulz lines in this edition. The Clark genealogy names her in Ira Elsworth Mead and Ella Henrietta Molle’s family and gives her birth as August 31, 1900, in Snyder.

The original 1920 census records her as Irma, age 19, in Ira and Ella’s household. By 1930, the original census lists Erma as Harry Schulz’s wife in Everett, Dodge County. The family account also describes her piano playing, soprano singing and Sunday school teaching.

A Nebraska death index gives the matching birth date and records Erma Schulz’s death on December 16, 1975, in Dodge County. The death certificate itself has not yet been reviewed.

What still needs checking

Erma Leona Mead Schulz is distinct from Erna Ruth Schmidt in the von Seggern branch.

The 1930 index reports her father’s birthplace as Nebraska; the family book and 1920 material support Iowa for Ira. That discrepancy is not silently resolved.
