Erna Ruth Schmidt
1910–1999
Also recorded as Erna Ruth von Seggern, Erna von Seggern.
Life and records
Erna Ruth is recorded as a nine-year-old daughter in the 1920 Elkhorn household of Earnest and Anna Schmidt. The original 1921 county-history biography also names Erna among Ernest and Anna Baltz Schmidt’s children.
The 1940 directory transcription identifies Erna Ruth as Mrs. Harvey von Seggern. This provides an explicit married-name connection between the Schmidt daughter and the later von Seggern family, while original print verification of that directory remains pending.
John von Seggern’s 2008 newspaper obituary names his parents as Harvey and Erna (Schmidt) von Seggern. Her exact 1910–1999 life dates and places remain attributed to the family tree rather than independently checked vital certificates.
