- 1900 census · Elkhorn, Dodge County · ED 85, sheet 5 Original record Original household lines reviewed through the alternate index image. Head Ernest was born November 1827; wife Augusta August 1849. This is the same census household as the son’s entry.
- 1900 census · Ernest Schmidt, son · ED 85, sheet 5 Original record Original household lines 34–39 checked: younger Ernest is a son, born June 1880 in Nebraska. The parent identities are a strong match to the family booklet, but the full cross-record identity chain remains provisional.
- 1942 draft registration · Ernest Schmidt · Nebraska, box 1276 Original record Original card checked for birth on June 24, 1880, in Dodge County, Nebraska, and self-employment in farming. Mrs. Anna Schmidt is named as a contact; the card does not by itself establish that she is his wife or that he served in the military.
- History of Dodge and Washington Counties · 1921 · printed pages 703–704 Read cited record · Open external record Historical biography Original published pages visually checked. Names the younger Ernest’s wife Anna Baltz and their children Erna, Ernest R. and Alberta May; the older generation uses Augusta Miller. A historical biography is not a civil vital certificate.
