The Story of Ernst Friedrich Schmidt is a central source for this branch. Its family recollections, portraits, and accounts of earlier generations are preserved alongside later census and local-history research. The original account and later evidence remain distinct so readers can judge what supports each connection.
Ernst’s family booklet tells the story of a German immigrant who made his home near Fremont, Nebraska. It gives his birth as November 11, 1827, and describes an 1851 voyage to New Orleans.
The family booklet identifies Augusta as Augusta Muller, born August 4, 1849. It says she came to the United States in 1869 with her aunt and married Ernst Friedrich Schmidt in Fremont the following year.
The 1900 household lists Hattie Schmidt as a daughter of the household head Ernest Schmidt, living in Elkhorn, Dodge County, Nebraska. This entry has not been merged with a later married identity.
Katie Schmidt Treptow helped write the family history with Ernest Schmidt. The booklet identifies her as Ernst and Augusta’s second-oldest daughter and credits her with a poem about family prayers, written when she was eighty-seven.
Recorded names can include a birth surname, a married surname, or another spelling. Inclusion on this page does not by itself establish that every person belongs to the same ancestral line.
Original records, family accounts, and compiled genealogy have different evidential value. Unverified connections remain marked in the person profiles. A missing marriage, sibling, child, or date means it is not yet established here.
